Energy storage solutions and specifically Battery Energy storage systems (BESS) are important parts of energy and electricity systems of the future with a constantly increasing share of renewable energy.
The regulatory requirements for a BESS differ depending on the geographical market. The newly implemented EU Battery Regulation (Regulation 2023/1542) sets out specific safety requirements for Stationary battery Energy Storage systems in addition to the sustainability requirements. For the US market there are other requirements from the National codes on the BESS such as testing and listing by an NRTL. This course will go through the legislation and regulatory requirements for BESS when put on the European and the North American market.
During this half-day course, our battery experts will cover:
- Relevant EU directives
- EU Battery Regulation and CE Marking
- IEC Safety standards
- Codes for the North American market
- UL Safety standards
- Strategies for compliance
